FinSync — Privacy Policy

FinSync ("the app") is a personal finance tracking application published by Ameen ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with your Google account, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, which are used solely to create and identify your account.

Financial records you enter. The data you add in the app — transactions (amounts, categories, notes, dates and the bank account or card you tag them with), debts and credits, loans and EMI payments, investments, savings goals, bank account labels (a name you choose and the last two digits of the account or card) and your app settings — is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and associated with your account so it can sync across your devices. A copy is also cached on your device so the app works offline.

Bank alert capture (optional, off by default)

When the feature is on:

• FinSync reads the text of notifications shown on your phone (for example SMS alerts from your bank, or banking and payment app notifications) to find messages that look like a payment, purchase, transfer or deposit.
• The reading and parsing happen on your device only. Notifications that do not look like a money movement — including one-time passwords (OTPs) and ordinary messages — are ignored and are not stored.
• Alerts that look like transactions are kept in a private queue on your device until you review them. Nothing from a notification is sent to our servers, to Firebase or to any third party.
• Only when you choose to add an alert as a transaction is that transaction (amount, category, note, date and payment source) saved to your account, exactly like a transaction you type in yourself. Dismissed alerts are deleted from the queue.
• You can turn the feature off at any time in FinSync's settings or by removing notification access in Android settings; FinSync then stops reading notifications. Alerts still waiting for review can be dismissed in the app, and are removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall it.

How your data is used

Your data is used only to provide the app's functionality: authentication, storing your finance records, and syncing them across your devices. We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing, or use it for advertising. The app contains no ads and no analytics or advertising SDKs.

Permissions

• Internet — to sign in and sync your data with your account.
• Notification access (optional) — only for bank alert capture, as described above. FinSync does not request permission to read your SMS inbox.

Data storage and security

Data is stored on Google Firebase servers and is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account through Firebase security rules. Data cached on your device is stored in the app's private storage.

Exporting and deleting your data

You can export a copy of all your data from Config → Export backup, and delete all of your stored records at any time from Config → Clear all data. You can also delete individual entries inside the app.

To delete your account and all associated data, email vtameen8@gmail.com with the subject "FinSync account deletion request" from the Google account email you used to sign in. Your account and all stored financial data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Uninstalling the app removes all data stored on the device, including any pending bank alerts.

Children

FinSync is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

Third-party services

The app uses the following Google services, which process data as described in the Google Privacy Policy: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Sign in with Google.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
